Leading by example on climate action by making our operations sustainable.

In 2021 we committed to:

  • net zero direct emissions by 2030
  • net zero indirect emissions by 2040.

What we've done so far

What we'll do next

We’ll:

  • reduce direct sources of carbon emissions – aiming to reach net zero direct emissions by 2030
  • reduce indirect sources of carbon emissions (Scope 3) by reducing waste, cutting unnecessary travel and encouraging behaviour change – to reach net zero by 2040
  • change how and what we consume as a university
  • take action in departments, to support the reduction of direct and indirect emissions
